At the end of the year, the total number of households in Panjin was 462,000. The registered population was 1,292,000, of which nonagricultural population was 1,082,000 accounting for 83.7 percent of the city’s total population. The male population was 647,000, 50.1 percent of the city’s total population and the female population was 645,000, 49.9 percent of the total population. The population of from 0 to 18 years old, from 18 to 35 years old, from 35 to 60 years old, and over 60 years old were 187,000, 294,000, 576,000, and 236,000, accounting for 14.4 percent, 22.7 percent, 44.6 percent and 18.2 percent of the city’s total population separately. The whole year’s birth population and death population were 11,548 and 7,104 respectively, with birth rate of 8.9 per thousand, death rate of 5.5 per thousand, natural growth rate of 3.4 per thousand and family planning rate of 97.81 percent.


The population is dominated by Han. There are 35 nationalities, with 95.17 percent of Han and 4.83 percent of minorities of which Manchu is 3.01 percent, Korean is 0.90 percent and others are 0.92 percent. The several minorities of larger populations are Manchu, Korean, Mongols, Hui and Xibe.
